Megaoperative in Cartagena: capture alias «Smith» with modified weapon, tusi and marihuana following persecution with drones

The 21-year-old delinquent ham was found during a high-impact operation in the La Esperanza neighborhood. The Police left behind a modified traumatic weapon, ammunition and more than 300 grams of drugs.

A massive mega-operation led by the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena ended with the capture of a suspected drug dealer known as «Smith», who attempted to evade the authorities during a deployment supported by drones, ground patrols and units of the Special Operations Group (GOES).

The intervention took place in the La Esperanza neighborhood, El Cielito sector, where the authorities carried out escape routes and registration and control work on the slopes of La Popa, managing to locate and capture the 21-year-old suspect.

During the procedure, the uniforms incaused a modified traumatic firearm from the suppliers, 27 3.57 caliber cartridges, 300 grams of marihuana and 12 grams of tusi, items whose value exceeds 3.6 million pesos.

According to the Police, alias «Smith» records judicial notes as indicted for crimes of illegal possession of firearms and drug trafficking.

The captured man was placed at the disposal of the General Inspectorate of the Nation, where he will be held accountable for crimes involving manufacturing, trafficking, possession or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, as well as trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics.

The operational commander of the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena, Lieutenant Colonel Alejandro Salgado, highlighted that the result was possible thanks to the combination of technology, intelligence and reaction capacity of the deployed units.

«This result is the product of an operational deployment that combines technology, intelligence and the reaction capacity of our ground patrols. We will continue to develop forceful operations to remove illegal weapons from the streets and affect the income of microtrafficking», stated the official.

The National Police announced that it will continue to strengthen operatives in the different neighborhoods of Cartagena to combat the illegal carrying of weapons, microtrafficking and criminal structures that affect citizen security.

The authorities reiterated the call to the community to report any suspicious activity through the emergency line 123 or the official channels of the institution.
